Co.As.It.’s Insertion Program now includes Italian Language Assistants to support the development and the delivery of Italian in NSW schools.

Co.As.It. places Italian university graduates, who are certified in teaching Italian as a second language, to support teachers and students in schools. Language assistants provide authentic language and cultural experiences for students.

Italian Language Assistants work with individuals or small groups of students, providing feedback on current language usage and targeted support. They support classroom teachers by assisting in the development of resources and the delivery of cultural activities.

How to apply for an Italian Language Assistant

To register, schools must apply to be part of the Insertion Program and sign an agreement with Co.As.It. As part of this agreement, schools are required to provide data twice a year on the number of Italian students, the number of hours taught weekly, and the names and qualifications of Italian teachers, as required by Italy’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

There is no cost for schools to participate in the program. The program is co-funded by Co.As.It. and the Italian Government.

All assistants are certified in teaching Italian as a second language and possess an intermediate or advanced level of English.

In 2025, assistants will be available for the teaching period: March to December.
