Welcome to the Italian Bilingual School After School Hours Care – IBS OOSH

Co.As.It. offers an After School Care Program to provide care and recreation for children from Preps to Year 6. The OOSH program follows the new National Quality Standard for out of school hours care services. This standard has been designed to ensure a continuity of care across all areas of childcare with the focus on a child’s learning and development.

At IBS OOSH we aim to enable parents to pursue work or study in the knowledge that their children are being well cared for in a safe and happy environment. We provide a wide variety of supervised play and recreational activities that assist the overall development of the children. To promote and encourage equity and access throughout the centre, we provide equal opportunities for the children including promoting and encouraging bilingualism by employing bilingual staff, whenever possible.

Dropping Off and Picking Up Children

We aim to provide a procedure for dropping off and picking up children which is clear and ensures the safety and wellbeing of the children in our care. Parents are required to follow specific communication procedures to ensure we can provide appropriate care of their children.

The children will be collected after school by the OOSH Coordinator in the playground of the IBS and a roll call will be taken.

Children must be collected by the authorised person by the closing time of the centre (6:30pm).

The authorised person who is collecting the child must electronically sign out.

The authorised person and children are to ensure that all belongings are collected.

The authorised person must ensure that a staff member is aware that they are collecting the child from the centre. If the child is to be collected by anyone different from the name on the enrolment form, parents must have personally informed the appropriate staff member prior to the pick-up time. This change should be confirmed in writing, if possible, and the person picking up the child is requested to bring identification.

The names and contact numbers of all the people authorised to collect the child must be included in the enrolment form. Any changes to these must be advised in writing to the centre as soon as possible. The authorised person is required to give proof of identification to staff if they have not seen them previously. The centre will not release the child to anyone who is not authorised without prior consent and in line with centre policy.

If there is an emergency and the parent or authorised person cannot collect the child, the parent must personally ring the centre. The parent will be required to indicate who will collect, give a description and ask the person to provide proof of identification.

Staff are to be notified if the person collecting the child is to be later than usual. The child will be notified to avoid any anxiety. If no one collects the child the centre will contact the parents/guardians, if these cannot be reached the centre will contact the police.

The Centre is closed during school holidays, public holidays and school development days.
